5V/12V Power eSATAp to SATA 22 pin HDD Adapter Cable (post host need to be Power over eSATA, Power eSATA, eSATA/USB Combo, eSATA USB Hybrid Port (EUHP))
Introduction
Shentek products 5V/12V Power Over eSATAp to SATA 22 pin HDD Adapter Cable. It supports with 2.5”/3.5” SATA HDD and 5.25” Blueray Play, DVD Play and CD Rom with data transfer and power for 5V and 12V. Because of use 5V/12V Power Over eSATAp connector.
It allows connect SATA devices for External, it is easy to remove and connect your SATA devices with one connection without any external power for your SATA devices.
When you connect with 5V and 12V Host Card from your Desktop – supports with 2.5”/3.5”/5.25”
The power supports from Desktop power supply system for 5V and 12V when you connect with 5V/12V Power Over eSATAp PCI-e Card or PCI Card, or Card Adapter. It will save External Power Adapter for your SATA devices also for your space, too.
Please make sure your Host Port is 5V/12V or only 5V
If your Desktop Host Card only support 5V, it will not support for 3.5” and 5.25” Devices. Because has no 12V Power support. It can only support for 2.5” SATA HDD or Slim DVD Player.
When you connect with 5V Host Card from your Laptop – support 2.5” and Slim DVD Player
For ExpressCard it has been design with 5V Power Over eSATA port, it can support with 2.5” and Slim DVD Player. For Laptop, it can not support for 3.5” and 5.25” because it has no 12V power support.
For some of Laptop, it has design in with 5V Power Over eSATA connector, it call eSATA/USB port. It is only 5V Power to you SATA HDD. Therefore, it can only support 2.5” SATA HDD or Slim DVD player.
It has two kind of Power Over eSATAp connectors – 5V/12V Power Over eSATAp and 5V Power Over eSATAp
Power Over eSATAp 5V/12V(eSATA/USB)
Here is more information to clear for you why you do not need any power supply for your External SATA devices. It is about the Power Over eSATAp connector – We have use 5V/12V Power Over eSATAp/USB connector to design this product. The connector has
7 pin for SATA data transfer
4 pin for USB2.0 data transfer, it has also 5V power support. As we have USB2.0 has 5V power. The 5V power is comes from Desktop Power Supply.
2 pin for 12V Power supports. The 12V power comes from Desktop Power Supply.
Power Over eSATAp 5V(eSATA/USB)
It has 7 pin for SATA data transfer
4 pin for USB2.0 data transfer, it has also 5V power support. As we have USB2.0 has 5V power. The 5V power is comes from Desktop Power Supply.
Hot Swap
The product has support “Hot Swap”, it has depend on your M/B. For now, some M/B’s SATA port has supported with Hot Swap, but some has no support it. If no support Hot Swap, after you connector the SATA HDD, it will also not support with Hot Swap, too.
For this cable, we do not support USB function, the cable has USB function, but we do not design this function into this cable.
